The exterior guide post is essential for effectively organizing and securing your outdoor spaces, whether it is a restaurant terrace, a company parking lot, an outdoor event or a construction site. Designed to withstand climatic conditions (wind, rain, UV), our exterior guide posts are both robust, ballastable and easy to move.
CrowdControlCentral offers a complete selection of outdoor guide posts adapted to professional requirements: models with retractable strap, braided rope or chain, with weighted base (concrete, water, sand) or permanent anchor. Discover our range below and the answers to the most frequently asked questions to help you choose your equipment.
Can belt stanchions be used outdoors?
Yes, it is entirely possible to use belt stanchions outdoors. However, it's important to keep in mind that in this case, the fabric belt is considered a consumable item.
When exposed to rain, humidity, or temperature variations, the belt may eventually warp or become distorted if not properly dried after use. In such cases, replacing the belt may become necessary over time.
Nevertheless, certain solutions exist for more intensive outdoor use, particularly models equipped with plastic belts or ropes, which are better suited to humid environments.
If in doubt, the safest approach is to request a personalized quote to choose a solution truly suited to your outdoor application.
What is the difference between an indoor and outdoor stanchion?
An outdoor stanchion is designed to withstand weather conditions (rain, UV, wind) thanks to anti-corrosion materials (304/316 stainless steel, PVC plastic, powder-coated aluminium, etc.). Its base is often fillable (water, sand, concrete) or weighted and of sufficient diameter to ensure stability against gusts up to 60 km/h. An indoor stanchion, on the other hand, prioritises aesthetics with a slimmer base and is not suitable for outdoor weather variations.
Will my outdoor stanchion withstand wind?
Yes, provided you follow the recommended ballasting. For a sheltered area (courtyard, covered terrace), 8 to 12 kg is sufficient. For an open area (parking lot, beach, outdoor event), plan for a ballast of at least 18 to 25 kg (water, sand or concrete). All our outdoor stanchions are designed to offer professional stability even in strong gusts when properly ballasted.
Which outdoor stanchion should I choose for a car park?
For a company or shopping centre car park, we recommend an outdoor stanchion in galvanised steel or stainless steel with a heavy base fixed to the ground (expansion anchors). Recommended height: 90-100 cm. Visibility: yellow/black or red/white belt (chevrons). For temporary areas (building sites, fairs), opt for the fillable plastic post, which is more economical.
Are my outdoor stanchions delivered assembled?
Not quite, all our outdoor stanchions are delivered partially assembled and practically ready to use. Typically, the base needs to be attached to the post tube. For posts that require it, simply fill the weighted base (water, sand) or secure to the ground depending on the model chosen.
