Questions fréquentes
What is a wall reel with strap used for?
A wall reel with retractable strap is a marking device attached directly to the wall, designed to quickly demarcate an area or organize traffic flows. Thanks to its internal spring mechanism, the strap easily deploys up to a defined length (3m, 5m, 9m, 10m, 12m,... depending on the model), then retracts automatically after use. This solution is particularly appreciated for its ease of use, its discretion and its space saving, since it does not require any floor equipment.
In which environments should wall reels be used?
Wall mounted reels are used in all spaces where flow management and temporary security are necessary. They are ideal for environments open to the public such as shops, museums, airports, administrations or even event spaces. Their wall-mounted installation completely frees up floor space, making them ideal for high-traffic areas or places where clutter must be limited.
Are wall-mounted belt barriers safe?
Professional wall-mounted retractable barriers are designed to offer a high level of safety. They typically incorporate a progressive braking system that prevents sudden belt retraction, thereby reducing the risk of accidents. The belt width (often 50 mm) ensures good visibility, while some models feature anti-panic systems allowing quick release when needed. These characteristics make them a reliable solution for managing foot traffic in public spaces.
Can a wall-mounted retractable belt barrier be installed easily?
Installing a wall-mounted retractable belt barrier is simple and quick. It is typically fixed using screws to a solid wall, and can be paired with a wall receiver or a stanchion post to create a queuing line. Once installed, the equipment requires no special maintenance, apart from occasional checks of the mounting and proper functioning of the mechanism.
Are wall-mounted retractable belt barriers suitable for outdoor use?
Some wall-mounted retractable belt barriers can be used outdoors, provided they are installed in a sheltered environment. Models made from durable materials such as steel or reinforced ABS offer good durability for intensive use conditions. However, for prolonged outdoor use, it is recommended to choose models specifically designed to withstand weather conditions.
Can a wall-mounted retractable belt be combined with stanchion posts?
Yes, wall-mounted retractable belt barriers are often compatible with stanchion posts. This combination allows you to create flexible and modular configurations, suitable for different types of spaces. The wall-mounted unit serves as a fixed point, while the post provides mobility and makes it easy to adjust queue flow paths.
However, we recommend ensuring compatibility between the wall-mounted unit and your posts by contacting us. Different brands use different attachment systems.

Wall-mounted belt barrier: technical criteria
The wall-mounted belt barrier is a housing fixed at height (typically 90 to 100 cm from the floor) containing a spring mechanism that automatically retracts the belt. This page details the technical parameters to compare; questions about usage, installation and outdoor use are covered in the FAQ at the bottom of the page.
Parameters to compare between models
- Belt length: 2m, 3m, 5m, 7m, 10m. Beyond 5m, the spring must be reinforced otherwise the belt drags on the floor at full extension.
- Belt width: 48-50mm (standard, readable) or 25mm (compact housings for minimalist environments).
- Housing depth: 5 to 8cm. Relevant in very narrow corridors or decorative areas.
- Shape: round (cylindrical, design) or rectangular (more discreet, possible recessed mounting).
- Material: chrome ABS (indoor), 304 or 316 stainless steel (outdoor and food industry), painted zamak (economical).
- Belt end fitting: magnetic, pressure clip, carabiner, ring. Determines compatibility with the wall receiver opposite.
Mounting
Mounting is done with 2 to 4 screws (depending on model) through a rear plate. For hollow walls (drywall), use expandable metal anchors supporting minimum 15kg. On concrete or brick, standard anchors are sufficient.
Combination with other systems
A wall-mounted barrier frequently combines with mobile stanchion posts to extend a queue beyond the wall length, or with another barrier opposite for perfectly symmetrical guidance. For environments with high aesthetic requirements, see wall receivers for rope.
