Wall Receiver for Stanchion Post: Complete Guide, Types and Installation
The wall receiver is the accessory that turns any wall into an anchor point for a stanchion belt. No need for a second post at the end of a corridor: a simple wall-mounted unit closes off access, defines a zone or creates a clean barrier against the wall.
Do you find yourself placing a second post just centimetres from a wall simply to hook the belt end? The wall receiver for stanchion posts solves this. This discreet wall-mounted unit accepts the belt clip exactly as another post would — without taking up any floor space.
This guide covers how wall receivers work, the two main types (magnetic and standard), how to choose the right one and how to install it correctly. Browse our range of wall receivers for retractable belt posts.
1. Wall Receiver vs Second Post
| Criterion | Wall receiver | Second post |
|---|---|---|
| Floor footprint | None | Base on floor (20-30 cm) |
| Wall clearance | 0 cm — flush to wall | Min. 15 cm for base |
| Cost | Low (accessory) | Higher (full post) |
| Best for | Permanent wall-side layouts | Flexible, temporary configs |
2. Two Types of Wall Receivers
Standard (mechanical clip)
The belt clip slides into the housing and locks with a click. A button (identical to the one on a post) releases it. Reliable, robust, universal — compatible with the vast majority of belts on the market. Mechanical security: the belt does not accidentally detach.
Magnetic receiver
The belt tip has a magnet that auto-attaches to the receiver. Under crowd pressure or in an emergency, the belt detaches instantly — no trip hazard. Reconnection is immediate: just bring the belt close. Recommended for high-traffic public venues.
3. Installation: Step by Step
Step 1 — Set the height
Measure the belt exit height on your post (usually 90-100 cm). Mark this on the wall. The belt must be perfectly horizontal between post and receiver.
Step 2 — Identify the wall type
Concrete, brick, plasterboard or timber? Each needs different fixings. Use Molly bolts for hollow walls, mechanical anchors for concrete.
Step 3 — Drill and anchor
Drill per the template (2-3 holes). Insert anchors. Check the holes are perfectly level — a tilted receiver pulls the belt sideways.
Step 4 — Fix and test
Screw without over-tightening. Test by inserting and removing the belt clip 5-10 times. Verify it holds under normal use (standard) or releases under lateral pressure (magnetic).
